A
MUG BY ANY OTHER NAME ...

I make two basic styles of mugs -- round and faceted. I call the faceted ones "tankards" and the round ones are called "roundos". The tankards are elegant and sort of formal. The faceted sides do wonderful things for my glazes, providing a flat surface for some very fluid effects and a nice ridge for the glaze to break over and emphasize the facets. The handles are meant to accommodate two or three fingers. You'll find that the way the handle connects to the body makes the weight of the tankard lean into your hand for maximum comfort. The roundos are just what their name suggests: smaller, round, friendly mugs with a one-finger handle. Yeah, I know you think a one-finger handle can't be comfy, but you've got to try one of these. My customers are always surprised at how nice they feel, and even large men find they can easily fit a finger into the space. The thing about roundos is that I can make them very quickly and there are only a couple of steps involved -- so I can sell them at a real bargain price. I also make a larger version of the tankards. It's called a "stein" which implies beer. I don't like to limit them, though. I often drink iced tea or ginger ale from mine. Okay, I also often drink beer. The point is, they're great for anything you want to drink a lot of. The steins hold anywhere from 16 to 32 ounces. Prices:
